Inhibition of Scaling of Water by the Electrostatic Treatment

Abstract

By means of the electrostatic device, this paper researched and analyzed the effect of electrostatic treatment on the scaling of water. The results show when the charge time is 10 s, the optimal zone of tension is 400–500 V and the average efficiency is between 14% and 35%; but when the charge time is 20 s, the optimal zone of tension is 700–850 V and the average efficiency is between 18% and 34%. In view of dispersion and average efficiency of treatment between 200 and 1,000 V, the treatment of 20 s is more effective than that of 10 s. The analysis of SEM shows the induced colloid nucleation is different from the naturally formed colloid nucleation. Different suggestions are given in order to research further the electrostatic treatment. Copyright Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2009
