Assessment of the Relationship between the Qualification Structure of Employment and Household Consumption Using Input–Output Tables

Abstract

— The article analyzes the impact of changes in the structure of employment on economic dynamics. Three key areas are considered: changes in the qualification structure of the employed; changes in the level of wages and incomes of the population due to the modernization of jobs and an increase in labor productivity; and changes in the volume and structure of household expenditures. It is substantiated that a decrease in the share of low-skilled labor in the structure of employment will have a positive effect on the growth of volumes and changes in the structure of household consumption, which in turn is the most important factor in accelerating economic dynamics. The corresponding calculations were obtained on the basis of the input–output table, in which the payroll line of the third quadrant is detailed down to the qualification groups of the employed and the column of the second quadrant presents household consumption detailed down to individual decile groups.
