Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der professionelle Umgang mit Daten entwickelt sich in Zeiten von Big Data immer mehr zu einem entscheidenden Wettbewerbsfaktor eines Landes. Dieser Artikel thematisiert die Häufigkeit statistischer Publikationen im internationalen Vergleich, welche als Indikator für den Stellenwert von Datenwissenschaften in einem Staat dienen kann. Die durchgeführten Analysen basieren auf der Erfassung von 3657 Artikel aus 16 führenden Statistik-Zeitschriften aus den Jahren 2010 bis 2016. Dabei wird deutlich, dass Deutschland in dieser Hinsicht im Vergleich mit anderen hochentwickelten Ländern bestenfalls mittelmäßig abschneidet. Um dieses Phänomen zu erklären, wurden verschiedene Einflussfaktoren wie die Wirtschaftskraft und der allgemeine Entwicklungsgrad eines Landes analysiert. Einen signifikanten Einfluss hat dabei insbesondere die Verbreitung der Statistik als eigenständiges Fachgebiet in Bildung und Forschung – hier repräsentiert durch den Anteil von Universitäten mit statistischem Fachbereich. Dieser Einfluss bleibt auch für zwei von vier Zeitschriftencluster erhalten, wenn die 16 Zeitschriften bezüglich der Fachbereiche der Autoren geclustert werden. Nur für das ökonometrische und das psychometrische Zeitschriftencluster hat der Anteil von Universitäten mit statistischem Fachbereich keinen signifikanten Einfluss.
