Accessibility of utility software for disabled and elderly people in the light of WCAG standards

Abstract

The article describes problems related to accessibility of various types of software for disabled and elderly people. It mentions the WCAG standard, used for websites verification. The standard has been analysed paying special attention to its usability in testing software other than websites. The paper concentrates on companies that produce software and were chosen for the research. It shows that WCAG guidelines are taken into consideration in the process of creation of websites and other types of software. An expert-type tool has been proposed to evaluate the implementation of the WCAG standard in given software. The article used the results of industrial research from the project no. POIG.01.03.01–14–059/12.
