Quality-Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) jako narzędzie ekonomicznej oceny zdrowia

Abstract

Problem kosztów alternatywnych w ochronie zdrowia nabiera szczególnego znaczenia ze względu na znaczenie zdrowia dla każdego człowieka, dla społeczeństwa i dla gospodarki. Dokonanie wyboru między konkurującymi programami zdrowotnymi wymaga odwołania się do oceny ekonomicznej, czyli dokonania pomiarów wyników, do jakich programy te prowadzą. QALYs jest miernikiem uwzględniającym wartość zdrowia dla jednostki, czyli zmiany czasu trwania życia i jego jakości. Ze względu na znaczenie tego miernika przedstawiam jego konstrukcję, sposób jego obliczania, a także jego podstawy mikroekonomiczne. QALYs może być wykorzystany do skonstruowania optymalnego koszyka świadczeń medycznych, jak również do określania społecznego dobrobytu, co zostało opisane w kolejnych częściach.
