Mesure du degré de concurrence dans le système bancaire suisse à l'aide du modèle de Panzar et Rosse

Abstract

Dans cet article, nous tentons de mesurer le niveau de concurrence dans le secteur bancaire suisse à l'aide du modèle de PANZAR et ROSSE. Selon nos estimations, les hypothèses de monopole et de concurrence parfaite peuvent être rejetées pour la période 1987-1994, au profit de l'hypothèse d'oligopole. Ce résultat indique que la concentration élevée du secteur bancaire suisse et l'existence des conventions de l'ASB ont conduit à une concurrence imparfaite, mais n'ont pas permis aux banques d'établir un pouvoir de monopole.
