Abstract

One of the features of the institutional framework in the Spanish farming historiography between 1939 and 1959 is the lack of encouragement to create new family-run farms. This paper considers the results, perspectives, and problems in the province of Albacete. It is observed that the factors leading to the acquisition of five plots of land through the INC are not related to the true objectives of colonisation. In particular, the documents reported by the rural trade union brotherhoods indicate a great variety of positions and initiatives subject to powerful landowners. These proposals range from the interest in the division of land into plots of one or several farms to the challenges and presentation of alternatives.
