E-mail: tatianapashkova22@gmail.comСтатья посвящена практике преподавания истории в столичных мужских гимназиях первой половины XIX в.: анализируются программы курсов, содержание экзаменов и учебных книг, а также теоретические построения и методические приемы авторов учебников по всеобщей и отечественной истории. Показано, что в начальный период развития гимназического образования основной акцент делался на изучении всемирной истории. При этом даже столичные школы испытывали большие трудности в подборе учебной литературы. Руководства, написанные иностранными авторами, а затем и петербургскими преподавателями, представляли собой многостраничные тома, в которых отсутствовал иллюстративный материал и какой бы то ни было методический аппарат.
