Abstract

The article looks into the availability of venture capital as a source of funding investments into innovative start-ups. The vitally important problem for the early stage of technology development is to find sources of funding and thus to overcome the so-called Death Valley. The author outlines the specific features of venture capital which make it attractive for small innovative start-up businesses. The paper examines the role of venture capital in this process, identifies the set of problems and examines ways to improve the situation through the mechanisms of public-private partnership.
