Abstract

The article presents a research on the nominative sentence (NS) in the structure of prosaic text. The author addresses such issues as the inclusion of NS into a text canvas, outlines the functions of a NS in a text extract, touches upon the problem of NS functionality within composed speech forms and in texts with either limited or all-embracing narrative perspective. The article also dwells upon the possible role of NS in the rhythmic and compositional chunking of a text.
