Abstract

Прошло вот уже почти тридцать лет с тех пор, как я под влиянием сразу трех совершенно разных личностей — Стаббса, Тойнби и Шмоллера — начал интересоваться экономической историей. И, оглядываясь назад, я осознаю огромные перемены, произошедшие в академической атмосфере. Я не стал бы говорить о Германии, Франции и России или других странах Европейского континента; но что касается Англии и Америки, можно с большой долей уверенности утверждать, что исследование экономической истории как отдельного предмета больше не является здесь индивидуальной прихотью, едва ли не требующей оправданий; сегодня это — общепризнанное и уважаемое научное направление.
