Abstract

Дж. Мэйнстринг (1894-1943) один из основоположников раннего американского институционализма, который первый заметил теневой сектор экономики и дал ему поэтическую интерпретацию. Биографы экономиста отмечают, что им впервые были введены в научный оборот (в данном сонете) понятия «ненаблюдаемый сегмент» и «транспорентность», получившие позже международное признание. В литературе есть мнение, что сонет этот был написан от отчаяния, когда теневая экономика грозила поглотить легальный бизнес полностью (примеч. Ефима Кандопожского).
