Abstract

В статье анализируется проблема среднего класса, поставленная еще в античном обществе в работах Аристотеля, интересовавшая социальных мыслителей в эпоху Возрождения и в Новое время. В современных условиях данный вопрос активно обсуждается как в зарубежной, так и в российской печати. Авторы статьи показывают причины зачастую противоречивых оценок численности среднего класса в российском обществе (в том числе в Вологодской области) и перспективу роста удельного веса средних слоев.
