Abstract

Статья касается роли научных обществ в процессе наращивания международного научного потенциала и вовлечения в этот процесс развивающихся стран. Автор рассматривает исторические предпосылки появления неформальных научных объединений и их участия в научно-технологическом развитии на национальном и глобальном уровнях, а также анализирует современные инициативы научных обществ Великобритании, направленные на укрепление позиций ученых в данном процессе. Предлагается ряд шагов, которые помогут наладить более тесное сотрудничество между научными обществами и различными финансирующими организациями, в том числе правительственными.
