Abstract

This article describes how foreign direct investments(FDI) of transnational corporations influenced international production in the end of the 20 th century. The growth of FDI in the past two decades has been accompanied by changes in their geographica l patterns, indicating shifts in the investment climate in host countries and in the economic factors driving the location of international production. Such new determinants as liberalization of FDI regimes, intensification of competition and technical change are analysed.
