Abstract

Чего ждать от «продвижения демократии» в современном мире? Утверждения прав и свобод человека, широкого распределения благ, устойчивого социально-экономического развития или политики «двойных стандартов», углубления неравенства в обществе, социально-экономических кризисов и гегемонии элит нового типа, завоевывающих власть под лозунгами гуманистических ценностей. Является ли современная волна «демократических переходов» стихийной или же это управляемый и тщательно спланированный процесс? Эти вопросы не теряют актуальности, поскольку «третья волна демократизации» продолжает свой путь. Обширный эмпирический материал, систематизированный российскими и зарубежными исследователями, позволяет воссоздать общую модель демократических переходов в странах Третьего мира.
