Attitudes toward partner violence in men: An evaluation in terms of narcissism and attachment style in Turkey

Abstract

Background: Intimate partner violence is quite common around the world. Aim: This study aims to determine the attitudes toward partner violence in men and to evaluate their attitudes toward violence according to narcissistic characteristics and attachment styles. Method: This study was conducted using descriptive cross-sectional methods. Data has been collected by using The Experiences in Intimate Relationship Inventory (EIRI), The Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI), and Attitude Scales Toward Dating Violence (ASTDV). Results: There was a positive correlation between the PSV and PV of ASTDV in the anxiety sub-dimension of the EIRI-2 ( r  = .283, p
