Psychology and Social Change in Latin America

Abstract

The interactive relationship between the development of psychology as a discipline, and social change is brought out by an analysis of the social and historical landmark events in Latin America. The relevance of some concepts of mainstream psychology is discussed and the need for defining the concepts of other social sciences when they are used for understanding psychological data is emphasised. The contributions made by Latin American psychologists in the areas of infant stimulation, moral development, employee training and community psychology are described.
