Social capital in wonderland

Abstract

Whilst, from their internally privileged position, the World Bank's social capitalists have defended their use and heavy promotion of social capital within the Bank as a strategy for civilizing the Bank's economists, this is shown to have been both a flawed strategy and one that misreads both the internal dynamic of the Bank and its external influence.
