Abstract

Investors do not often make wise decisions while doing investments. They are influenced by some biases which hinder their decisions. It may vary from emotional to cognitive biases. One of the factors which influence such biases is demographic factor. Demographic factors such as age, gender, education, occupation, profession, financial dependents and income have direct influence on their behavioural biases which later affect their investment decisions. Amongst these biases, age plays a crucial role on their behavioural biases and success of their investment decisions. How investors’ age determines their investment behaviour is studied in this paper. The multistage random sampling technique was used to collect the data from 742 retail investors who are accessing Indian stock market. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively by using various SPSS tools such as cross tabulations, correspondence analysis etc. Findings of this study suggested that investors’ age has significant influence of determining their investment behaviour.
