Abstract

Banking is a force that is the very life-line of the Indian economy. Banking sector in India has undergone fast changes in the wake of new economic reforms. These changes have qualitatively revolutionized the banking system as a whole. The effectiveness of banking is closely linked to the manpower resources because it is purely a service sector. Customer satisfaction is the secret of success of the banking industry. Unless the bank employees are satisfied with the organizational climate, they cannot deliver quality service to the customers. This confronting situation can be tackled by an efficient human resource management policy of the banking institutions. Women have made considerable progress in acquiring responsible positions in banking institutions. Women as a work force have to face problems unique to their gender. An exploration of concern and problems of working women in banks assumes ut-most importance today as banks are focusing on Total Quality Management and women are making their presence felt by their numbers and quality of service rendered.
