A Perspective of Professional Management Education

Abstract

Educational programmes provide a wide range of knowledge, which con help a person understand the environment in which he functions. They help individuals to relate better to immediate issues and problems in the wider context of a given situation. After attending an educational programme it is expected that the individual is able to understand the totality better, cope with it in effective ways and provide better direction to deal with the situation. A serious concern is often expressed about post-graduate educational programmes. The concern is valid because the quality of the intellectual capital in the country depends upon the foundation that university level education provides to the students. While seriously looking for possible solutions it is desirable to reflect on the expected outcome of such educational programmes. This paper briefly reflects on the purpose of education and follows up with professional education in management.
