Abstract

The determinants of participation in international business is a well- researched area within both economics and business management disci plines. Such studies have largely highlighted factors external to the firm. A few enquiries in the small and medium sector have looked into person- specific factors as explaining the difference in behaviour between exporters and non-exporters. Taking off from these two streams, this paper delves deep into the exporting behaviour of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in two specific sectors after considering the dimensions of entre preneur, enterprise and environment.
