Economic Relations between Korea and Italy

Abstract

Economic relations between Italy and Korea still remain at an embryonic stage and a certain extent of imbalance persists between their positions in the world economy and the state of their mutual relations. In fact, potentiality for closer relations between the two countries has not adequately developed to their common benefit. And the gap between the potentiality for and the actuality of economic relations is wider in the initiatives of Italy vis-Ã -vis Korea than those of Korea vis-Ã -vis Italy. Even in the era of global village, Italy's economic relations still remain Eurocentric, whereas Korea has seldom extended her economic relations far beyond the Asia-Pacific region. Therefore, there is an urgent need for activating the existing channels of cooperation and consistently inventing new ones in order to foster closer economic relations between them.
