A Theoretical Framework for the Interactions among Models in the Integrated Transportation and Land-Use Package

Abstract

The framework developed in this paper describes the interactions among the components models in the integrated transportation and land-use package, ITLUP, developed by Putman. A partial solution for employment and residential location patterns can be found with matrix inversion. The existence, uniqueness, and positivity of these solutions is demonstrated. The interactions between the location models are interpreted as a special type of multiplier effect. Also, in the analysis several new functionally equivalent ITLUP algorithms are identified.
