The Influence of Feedback Environment towards Self-Efficacy for Students Engagement, Classroom Management and Teaching Strategies

Abstract

This study aims to identify the best predictive factors in the feedback environment dimensions on the efficacy for classroom management, efficacy for student engagement, and efficacy for instructional strategies. About 246 lecturers from four conventional polytechnics in Penang and Sarawak were chosen as respondents based on a purposive sampling. Data was collected and analyzed quantitatively using multiple regressions. The findings showed that the quality of feedback has emerged as the best predictor of self-efficacy for students’ engagement and self-efficacy for classroom management. In addition, the findings also showed that the favorable feedback has appeared as the best predictor of self-efficacy for teaching strategies. This study suggests that the middle leaders in polytechnics should have the ability to establish quality and favorable feedback environment in order to provide space to improve teaching self-efficacy among the polytechnic lecturers in the workplace.
