Abstract

The Italian population is reaching 61 millions, and 86% of the increase is due to the migration dynamics, especially in 2002-2010. The natural balance in Italy is -86,436 for the 2013, the lowest score in decades. The North East region of Italy (Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia) has a similar demographic trend where the birth rate is low between Italian-born family and high between non Italian. The pattern of the birth rate is however converging. Migration processes allowed both firms to find available workers and families to accomplish the needs of caregiving through foreign nannies and maids.
