Abstract

Social networks are a strong instrument for promoting for free the image of a product, service or organization. The present study is aimed at determining the impact of social networks on attracting tourists to big museums of Bucharest city. Thus, the research carried out reveals that museum employees use social platforms for promoting the image of the institutions they represent, posting several information about (1) permanent or temporary exhibitions, (2) additional services (movie evenings, concerts etc.), (3) special events (A Different Kind of School, Museums Night, etc.). The study proves that museums’ presence on social networks can positively influence visitors’ number.
