Abstract

Sustainable economic growth of the Russian Federation can be achieved only through a significant increase in the pace of balanced socio-economic development of its regions. The concept of «balanced development of the region» is widely spread in the scientific literature, but different authors interpret this concept depending on the context of their research and the sphere of scientific activity. The article discusses various approaches to the definition of the concept of «region», «balanced development of the region», which makes it possible to clarify these concepts for the implementation of its universality.
