Un análisis empírico de la dinámica comercial y el comercio intraindustrial norte-sur en el período de alta integración

Abstract

En este trabajo se analiza el comercio intraindustrial (CII) de 23 Economías Emergentes Manufactureras (EEM) con el mundo a cuatro dígitos de la Clasificación Uniforme del Comercio Internacional (CUCI) y con su principal socio comercial, a cinco dígitos, durante 1980-2005, periodo caracterizado por haber sido el de mayor integración comercial en el mundo. Los resultados demuestran que el alto CII no es un fenómeno exclusivo de las economías desarrolladas, como supone la Nueva Teoría del Comercio Internacional (NTCI), sino que representa un porcentaje considerable del comercio Norte-Sur. A diferencia de la pregunta tradicional de por qué comercian los países, típica de los modelos Heckscher-Ohlin (H-O), la cual se asocia a las diferentes dotaciones de factores, en este trabajo se trata de dar respuesta a por qué los países seleccionados comercian tan intensamente con su principal socio comercial productos similares. El ejercicio se lleva a cabo a partir de la ecuación de gravedad.
