Relación entre la actividad manufacturera y el crecimiento económico a nivel mundial: un enfoque usando datos de panel

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo examinar el efecto de la actividad manufacturera en el crecimiento económico a nivel global durante 1995-2015. Para examinar la relación entre la manufactura y el crecimiento económico con una alta inestabilidad económica, utilizamos datos recopilados por el World Development Indicators (2019) y técnicas de cointegración. Mediante un modelo de corrección de error, verificamos la existencia de una relación a corto plazo entre el crecimiento económico y la manufactura. Además, encontramos que existe causalidad de Granger (1988) entre las dos variables en aquellos países con ingresos per cápita medio-alto. Una implicación de política económica derivada de esta investigación es la creación de programas de desarrollo industrial en aquellas economías subdesarrolladas con la finalidad de equilibrar las diferencias de ingreso respecto a otras regiones con mayor industria.
