Abstract

The principal aim of this work is to analyse the applicability of economic convergence models to small territorial units, based on synthetic development indicator estimates. For this, we apply spatial regression models based on a composite development indicator with municipal disintegration, built using multivariate analysis methods. The methodological application is carried out on a prototype region, the system of municipal economies within the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León in Spain, during the period 1981-2001.
