Comercio Minorista Y Regulación Autonómica: Efectos En La Densidad Comercial, El Empleo Y La Inflación

Abstract

Este artículo proporciona una base de datos y unos indicadores de las principales restricciones al comercio minorista entre 1997 y 2007 en las Comunidades Autónomas (CCAA). En particular, se considera la regulación sobre: horarios comerciales, temporada de rebajas, definición de grandes superficies, licencias autonómicas a las tiendas de descuento duro, moratorias comerciales e impuestos específicos a las grandes superficies. Además, se ofrece un indicador agregado a partir de estas restricciones utilizando técnicas de análisis factorial. Finalmente, se estima, con modelos de datos de panel, el efecto del grado de regulación comercial sobre la densidad comercial, los ocupados en el sector y la inflación en las CCAA. Los resultados apuntan a que la restrictividad comercial aumenta tanto la densidad comercial (beneficiando específicamente a los supermercados) como la inflación, a la vez que disminuye el número de ocupados en el sector e impacta negativamente sobre los grandes formatos comerciales.
