Abstract

ABSTRACT At the present, Níjar, Southeast Almeria´s town, live in an unprecedented water scarcity situation. The present water management is based in the exploitation of water-bearing and carried out by an intensive agriculture in growth, and by an incipient tourist activity. This management model leads to an exhaustion of the water reserves. The answers to this situation concentrate to give more and better water resources to the present and future demands, before restrict them. Nowadays, under the sustainable philosophy, that model needed new rules in the water management and recovers the principles of the local water culture.
