Abstract

En este ensayo de interpretación tratamos de mostrar algunas limitaciones y retos del pensamiento económico latinoamericano. Los modelos económicos de crecimiento experimentados por América Latina han tenido resultados limitados y contradictorios. Este hecho se hace evidente ante el surgimiento de nuevas características económicas y la necesidad de comprenderlas. Atribuimos gran parte de estas carencias al esquema bipolar de pensamiento utilizado en América Latina en las últimas décadas, caracterizándose por adoptar visiones que han contribuido a generar un alejamiento cada vez más pronunciado frente a las nuevas realidades. Todo lo cual plantea serios retos a los economistas en cuanto a la concepción misma del quehacer científico y práctico.
