Abstract

El presente ensayo aborda la situación actual por la que atraviesa el agro michoacano. Para ello, utilizamos primeramente diversos indicadores que dan cuenta de la crisis en la que se debate el país en su conjunto. Mostramos con cifras contundentes, la disminución de la actividad agropecuaria en el estado como parte de esta crisis. Describimos las principales problemáticas ambientales, técnicas y sociales del medio rural michoacano, destacando el impacto en la reducción acelerada en las zonas forestales de Michoacán. Esbozamos las políticas nacionales de las últimas 5 décadas, causantes principales de la polarización de productores y la insuficiencia alimentaria. Ejemplificamos la continuidad de estas políticas con el análisis del programa PRODUCE. Finalmente, enumeramos los retos que tenemos las instituciones que incidimos en el sector y las alternativas técnicas, ambientales y socioeconómicas que se vislumbran.
