Empleo, productividad y salarios en Mexico: Un analisis de corto y de largo plazo para el sector manufacturero

Abstract

En este documento se evalua la existencia de relaciones estadisticamente significativas, de largo y de corto plazo, entre los salarios, la productividad y el empleo en el sector manufacturero mexicano. En particular se estima una ecuacion de cointegracion y una de ciclo comun para las variables antes mencionadas. Encontramos que, en el largo plazo, los salarios comparten movimientos comunes con la productividad y el empleo, pero no asi en el corto plazo. Estos resultados sugieren que el mercado laboral en esta industria es rigido, en el sentido que los salarios no responden a choques transitorios en la productividad y el empleo. Sin embargo, en horizontes mas amplios, estas variables exhiben una tendencia comun.
