As propriedades cíclicas do mercado laboral português: uma perspetiva macroeconómica no contexto da OCDE

Abstract

As flutuações cíclicas do mercado laboral português exibem pouca correlação com o ciclo agregado da economia portuguesa dado pelas flutuações no PIB por trabalhador. Embora existam outros países na OCDE cujos mercados laborais exibem uma relação com o ciclo agregado tão ténue como o Português, a norma é que a correlação seja mais alta. Por outro lado, o ciclo agregado Português exibe uma persistência, ou correlação temporal, das mais baixas da OCDE. Este artigo mostra que estes factos têm implicações importantes para modelos macroeconómicos do mercado de trabalho.
