Abstract

[fre] Depuis le début des années 1980, le Mexique aspire à développer une recherche en biotechnologie dans la perspective de l’utiliser comme «levier» pour le développement du pays. Malgré le potentiel du pays (biodiversité, réseau public de recherche), la recherche biotechnologique mexicaine est trop isolée vis-à-vis des institutions politiques et du secteur privé pour pouvoir passer facilement de la recherche fondamentale à la recherche appliquée. De plus, les objectifs de développement national s’avèrent trop flous et décalés vis-à-vis du courant de globalisation. Dans ces conditions, les biotechnologies ont difficilement pu servir d’instrument de développement et la dépendance technologique et économique tend au contraire à s’accroître dans ce secteur.
