Abstract
[eng] Johann LAMBSDORFF — Exporters propensity to pay bribes. A trade perspective. This study shows that the degree of corruption in importing countries affects the trade structure of exporting countries. Whereas Malaysia, Australia and Sweden suffer disadvantages with corrupt counterparts, the exports of Italy, Belgium/Luxembourg and France are positively related to the level of corruption in importing countries. As the regressions control for geographic, sectorial, idiomatic and other influences, it is concluded that these findings are due to differences in the inclination of exporters to offer bribes.
