Abstract
[eng] The Five Challenges of the Euro The introduction of the Euro has been a great success. However, in terms of growth and employment, the results are disappointing. For the countries of the Euro zone to use all the potential that they provided themselves with, political decisions that will enable to fully take advantage of the introduction of the common currency have to be taken. Five areas need a particular attention: (1) the coordination between economic policies and (2) with the monetary policy of the Euro zone, (3) the external representation of the Euro zone, (4) a better regulation of the financial markets and finally (5) the democratic control of the economic policies on European level. These projects have to be launched by an extraordinary meeting of the heads of state and government prepared by a pluridisciplinary high level group.
