Inégalité et pauvreté : limites conceptuelles et tendances récentes

Abstract

[eng] Usual indexes of inequality, in particular the poverty ratio, are relative indexes. They reflect the concentration of incomes. They can be used as welfare indexes only under strong assumptions, generally not recalled in usual publications. Moreover, the knowledge of monetary resources is not sufficient to evaluate individual situations. Other approaches can be developed based either on living conditions or more subjective items.
