Abstract
[eng] Produit, production, reproduction in the tableau economique: words and concepts. . About studying old texts in economics, it is usual to contrast the retrospective approach adopted by economists, who analyse them according to modern criteria, with that of historians who try to give an account of their meaning in the appropriate context. Sometimes, however, both approaches come to the same conclusions. It is the case with Quesnay's Tableau economique. History of language, using lexicology techniques, and economic analysis are joined in this article. Conclusions of both approaches are similar and shed a new light on genesis as on intrinsic properties of the Tableau. Besides an indirect tribute to Francois Quesnay's abilities, this paper supplies new material for studying therelations between science and language.
