In this text, the author makes a reflection about the contribution of the organization theory to the neoinstitutionnalist conception of the firm, by proceeding to a rereading of the works of O. Williamson. This borrowing, in contrast to others theories of the firm, permits to highlight numerous aspects of the firm, namely: the contractual nature of the firm, the nature of intrafirm conflict and the organizational dynamic of the firm. Moreover, the author studies the complementarities and the differences between this borrowing and another current of the organization theory, the strategic analysis one. L'auteur s'interroge dans ce texte sur l'apport de la théorie des organisations à la conception néo-institutionnelle de la firme, en procédant à une relecture de l'ensemble des travaux de O.E. Williamson. Grâce à cet emprunt, Williamson en­richit notablement le traitement de la firme par rapport aux autres théories écono­miques, sur trois points principaux : la nature contractualiste de la firme, la nature du conflit intrafirme et la dynamique organisationnelle de la firme. Par ailleurs, l'auteur étudie les complémentarités et les divergences entre cet emprunt et un autre courant de la théorie des organisations, celui de l'analyse stratégique. Cette confrontation permet d'avancer dans la construction de ce que Williamson appelle la « science de l'organisation ».
