Abstract
[eng] Relative or absolute dominanœ in the sense of Lorenz an international comparison. . A distribution dominates another distribution according to the relative Lorenz criterion if its relative Lorenz curve is nowhere below the relative Lorenz curve of the either distribution. We define in a similar way absolute Lorenz dominance by means of the comparisons of the absolute Lorenz curves of the distributions. The relative Lorenz curves are invariant with respect to proportional increases in ail incomes though equal additions to all incomes do not affect the shape of the absolute Lorenz curves. In order to evaluate the respective performance of these two inequality orderings, we proceed to a comparison of income inequality accross twenty countries.
