Abstract

[eng] How can history improve political economics in the monetary fteld ? . . The main topic of this article is to discuss three generally accepted assertions in the economie analysis of money. The first one deals with the origin of money which is commonly presented as a resuit of mercantile practices. The second one discusses innovation in payments, particulary the assumption that paper (bank notes) preceeds scriptural form (deposit). The third one challenges the prevailing habit to put the emphasis on the fonction of payment towards the fonction of account. So the authors using historical materials develop a more comprehensive theory of monetary practices.
