Abstract

[eng] The subsidized performing arts : overquality, a bureaucratie disease ?. Xavier Dupuis. Culture is a new topic for the economiste and, today, it would seem more essential than ever to possess a means of assessing the public subsidies efficiency. Starting from the economic analysis of bureaucracy, this article proposes an explanation of the management of the subsidized Performing Arts.. What are the strategies of the managers ? The overquality is undoubtly the strategy that is adopted by the prestigious institutions. But where is it possible to go ? The overquality implies many negative consequences : overcosts, reduction of the production, segmentation of the artistic labour market... The danger is an economic and artistic suicide unless the State redefinies his cultural policy.
