Abstract

[eng] A new method using linear programming for a more efficient way of operating complex macro-economic simulation models. Gérard Maarek. This paper highlights the great help provided by linear programming for an easier exploitation of large simulation models as well as for a better understanding of their outcome.. This new method, developped by « le Commissariat Général au Plan », l'« INSEE » and « SEMA » has been successfully tested on the DMS Model for the implementation of the VIIIth french economic plan.. Furthermore very interesting extensions can be derived from the method relating either to theory (Decision theory, Optimal Control theory) or to applications (Comparison of different models).
