Abstract
[fre] The careers of former students at the « Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Toulouse » (E.N.S.C.T. ) have been studied as part of research into training-employment relationships. There are four criteria of analysis: geographical, demographical, educational, socio-professional. Two methods have been used alongside each other: 1° Transversal analysis covers population distribution at different dates, according to the above criteria. 2° Analysis of groups makes it possible to follow the same individuels throughout their careers and thus shows what types of behaviour make adaptation possible. This twofold analysis shows that engineers who have been to a specialised school do, for most of their lives, fulfil functions which are closely related to their specialisation ; furthermore, institutional changes can alter the course of the post-training flow.
