[fre] La production cidricole par sa localisation et la faible portion originellement commercialisée apparaît comme marginale dans l'économie agricole de la nation. Hypersensible sur le court terme, sa valeur marchande est des plus mal connues d'autant qu'une bonne partie, difficile à mesurer, est autoconsommée. Pendant la période de crise, grossièrement des années 1870 à la Belle-Epoque, la production dans l'ouest français est caractérisée par une réelle progression — cidre et eau-de-vie —, par une redistribution dans l'espace régional, par une part croissante des quantités commerciales et par une augmentation des prix unitaires. Cette conjoncture cidricole originale entraîne un gonflement du produit brut et permet ainsi d'atténuer les conséquences de la dépression agricole, tandis que se développe un secteur agro-alimentaire — cidreries et distilleries — fort embryonnaire au début de la crise. [eng] Because of its location and of the small quantities originally put on the market French apple-cider production appears as a marginal factor in the national economy. Oversensitive in the short term its marketing value is all the more unknow that a good position of it, difficult to evaluate, goes to self-consumption. During the crisis, approximately from 1870 to the « Belle Epoque » period, production in Western France is marked by a real increase in apple-cider and apple-brandy, by redistribution throughout the region, by a larger marketing and by higher unit prices. These particular concurring factors bring about an increased production, therefore alleviating the sequels of the agricultural depression while the agro-nutritional sector of apple refineries, prati- cally non-existant at the beginning of the crisis, gradually builds up.
